Thoughts and Musings by Rabbi Yossi Zaklikofsky

The day I was a Menorah

The day I was a Menorah

One of my special Chanukah memories was the time I participated in creating a 'Human Menorah' together with other classmates of my suburban Detroit school.

Although we were young, and the concept somewhat lofty, I still remember that even as kids, we were deeply impacted by the message: That as Jews, we don't just 'hold candles', but even more so - we actually are candles!

This means, that in addition to doing goodness, as Jews, even our very existence - are natural Menorahs, great sources of light for our surroundings!

This natural and deep 'Menorah Power' that is the essence of each one of us is remarkable indeed. Once it is identified and unleashed, it can be quite transformative, both personally and for the world around us!

Happy Chanukah and Shabbat Shalom!
