Mumbai Celebrates

This week, the New York Times reported a major milestone for the Chabad House in Mumbai, India. Nearly six years after a tragic terror attack, the center has now been restored and rededicated.

In attendance at the dedication ceremony were hundreds of Jews as well as a delegation of philanthropists and 25 Rabbis from across Asia.

Many of us vividly recall the deep pain and anguish we felt as we watched the horrific tragedy unfold six years ago when Rabbi Gabi and Rivky Holtzberg were murdered in their Chabad House.

There is no doubt that Gabi and Rivky watched from on-high, and appreciated the celebration and commitment to perpetuate the incredible work they had initiated and built up in Mumbai.

This week, let’s reflect on these two remarkable Jewish souls and learn from their openness to share their home and their Judaism and their extraordinary ‘Ahavat Yisroel’ which embraced thousands of Jews, from all walks of life, who came through the doors of their Chabad House.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Yossi Zaklikofsky
