JLI Teens - Dates & Important Details

Program Structure:

  • 3 sessions of 6 weeks each

  • Time: Sundays, 7:00–8:00 PM

  • Location: The Shul of Bellaire: 5307 Bissonnet St

  • Snacks and refreshments provided

Session Dates:

  • Session 1: Jan 11, 18, 25; Feb 1, 8, 15*

  • Session 2: Feb 22; Mar 1, 15, 22, 29; April 12,

  • Session 3: Apr 19, 26; May 3, 10, 17, 31*

(*Feb 15 & May 31 will be 2 hour sessions to accommodate student presentations. Details TBD) 

Fee:

  • $150 per student (books & supplies)

  • Gratz College application fee: $300 for non-matriculated students
     

Make-Up Classes:

  • Missed sessions can be coordinated with the instructor

How It Works

  • Weekly Classes: 1-hour weekly sessions on fascinating, relevant Jewish topics

  • Readings & Quizzes: Take-home readings and short online quizzes

  • Presentations: Two short presentations during the program

  • Recognition: Medal, letter of recognition, and pride in joining hundreds of Jewish teens

  • College Credit: Up to 3 credits through Gratz College

Course Units (3 Six-Lesson Courses)

1. Life on the Line - You Make the Call

Debate real ethical dilemmas from the news. Decide first, then discover what Jewish wisdom says about life-and-death choices.

2. Complicated Me - Understand What Makes You Tick

Explore what shapes your inner life, relationships and happiness. Learn dynamics for managing stress, thriving socially and building confidence.

3. Living Your Dream - Creating a Life Plan for Success

Identify values and skills to thrive in life. Build the foundation for personal and professional success.
